Introducing the Eclipse Creator Fund

Current Art Landscape

The current state of on-chain art faces significant challenges. The crypto landscape is dominated by adrenaline-fueled speculation, with little value flowing back to onchain art. PFPs have declined since the 2021 boom, and 1/1 art has struggled to expand its userbase.

But this is not the end—it’s an opportunity for a revival. Blockchains are more than just financial instruments; they are powerful tools for creativity, ownership, and community building. By harnessing these tools, we can reignite the onchain art movement. Thus, ensuring artists are not just included in the ecosystem but empowered to thrive.

Why art on Eclipse?

Eclipse stands at the intersection of Ethereum and Solana, two of the most vibrant art ecosystems. Solana's emergence as a significant player in the 1/1 art scene is largely attributed to a combination of technological advantages and a vibrant, engaged artist and collectors community. Ethereum has been the foundational platform for the growth of onchain art, pioneering the use of NFTs to establish digital art marketplaces such as SuperRare, Foundation, Nifty Gateway, and various DAOs to champion its artistic movement. Positioned between these two giants, Eclipse has the unique opportunity to harness the strengths of both—bridging communities, fostering collaboration, and building a more holistic and thriving ecosystem that pushes onchain art forward.

Vision

Through Eclipse’s partnership with Scope, all platform fees since their launch have been dedicated to the Eclipse Creator Fund—a fund designed to empower existing Eclipse artists while onboarding talent from other ecosystems and beyond Web3. Artists should not be constrained by chains, especially as we move toward a future where blockchain technology becomes seamlessly integrated and abstracted away from the user experience. We recognize that artists prioritize platforms with the lowest fees and the best UX, and our mission is to create an environment that enables them to focus on what truly matters—their art.

Beyond the existing crypto ecosystem there is a vast, untapped, world of artists and collectors. We are committed to bridging that gap. The Fund aims to introduce emerging artists to the power of blockchain technology, equipping them with the tools to elevate their work and shape the future of digital art.

The Art Council

The Eclipse Creator Fund will be initially led by Duke and Veronica (the Art Council), with the community playing a key role in shaping its direction. Community has always been a cornerstone of the Eclipse ecosystem, and that ethos will carry over into the Creator Fund. With every program, community members who wish to provide feedback on prospective artists will be invited to participate in the selection process. Artists from within the community will also be given priority, ensuring that those who contribute to the ecosystem have opportunities to thrive. The Fund invites all artists to immerse themselves in Eclipse, actively connect with our vibrant community, and showcase their work ahead of our upcoming programs for priority consideration.

We believe in the power of digital art to drive culture forward and are committed to restoring its cultural role within the Web3 ecosystem.

Roadmap

The Neighborhood will be home to the Eclipse Creator Fund and Art Council. Follow us on X for the latest updates: @EclipseNBH

One of the key components of the Eclipse Creator Fund will be a 3/5 multisig. The signers of this multisig will consist of Duke, Veronica, and 3 others from different ecosystems. Signers for the 3 other seats are currently being vetted, and will be made public once they are selected.

Getting the multisig set up and functioning as intended is a top priority for the Art Council, and we will be sharing updates as we have them.

First Steps

To launch the Creator Fund, we are excited to partner with Linda Global and take part in their upcoming Florence Festival, Primavera Digitale,” as part of the Digital Odyssey Show on Thursday April 3 at Rifugio Digitale Gallery. Everyone from the Eclipse community is welcome to sign up for free tickets and attend if they will be in Florence then.

Nine artists will be selected to showcase their work, with an Open Call running from today until 11:59PM EST on Sunday.

The theme for this first exhibition is Liberation—a reflection on the powerful journey toward freedom. Artists are invited to explore breaking free from constraints, whether internal or external, and to capture the emotions tied to self-discovery, justice, and empowerment. This theme encourages diverse interpretations that challenge, celebrate, and provoke thought on what it means to be truly free. Works of any medium are welcome, with the pieces being unminted as the only requirement. Artists will have the opportunity to mint their pieces on Eclipse prior to the show.

To submit your work for consideration, attach it in a reply to the pinned post from Neighborhood on X.

This Open Call is just the beginning. There will be many more opportunities, including an Artist in Residence Program coming soon.
