Explaining the Eclipse Creator Fund
The Eclipse Creator Fund was created with a singular focus, to support creators. The Eclipse Creator Fund is seeded by platform fees from NFT launches on Scope, the native NFT launchpad on Eclipse. Other mint fees such as the price of the NFT itself go directly to the artist. We would also like to say that most of these NFT launches are solely pieces of art. By minting the NFT, you are expressing your desire to collect a piece of art that you like and to support a creator.
Over the past weeks, we’ve seen incredible growth in the success of NFTs launched on Scope. With that, a significant amount of value has already been returned to artists and creators. For example, for the “Path of Discovery” mint, a community member, Nio’s artwork was used and Nio was gifted $15K from the Eclipse Creator Fund. The creator of “Anticipation (of a future event)”, the first dynamic NFT on Eclipse has already received $50K+ from the Eclipse Creator Fund. The creator of “Andromeda” has already received more than $12K+ solely from the price per item from his open-edition mint with a further $12K+ being contributed to the Eclipse Creator Fund to support future creators. Eclipse is the best place to drop and collect art onchain today.
Our commitment to supporting creators is shared with Rarible, who provides the technology, RaribleX, that powers Scope. Rarible has fixed previous fee issues that occurred during the “Path of Discovery” mint, and will continue to drive user experience improvements for users and enable secondary markets to exchange NFTs with other collectors and art enthusiasts.
Now, it is time to put into place the foundations to build a vibrant creator ecosystem long term using the Eclipse Creator Fund. Among other things, the Eclipse Creator Fund will be used to build out artist-in-residence programs, support up-and-coming creators, and ensure that creators have a sustainable path to continue doing what they love. The entire Eclipse Creator Fund will only be utilized for creators, and no one else. The Eclipse Creator Fund will be managed by a Council, including the custody and distribution of the fund, and the creation of various programs to support creators, with further details to be announced soon.
Eclipse is home to passionate community members, a vibrant group of creators, and ecosystem builders. With the Eclipse Creator Fund, we aim to support artists and their creative endeavors, while ensuring that there is a level playing field for all.
